BUCS PREPARE FOR 3-GAME WEEKEND

Home vs. Green Bay (1/16), At Topeka (1/17), At Tri-City (1/19)

THURSDAY, JANUARY 16TH: BUCS VS. GREEN BAY (7:35)
The Des Moines Buccaneers host the Green Bay Gamblers this Thursday, January 16th for the Bucs’ only home game of the weekend. Green Bay is currently in last place in the USHL’s Eastern Division with a 12-17-3 record; they are 4-10 on the road. The Bucs have faced the Gamblers 4 times so far this season, winning in 3 of the 4 match-ups. Green Bay is led offensively by forward Nate Higgins, with 20 points. Buccaneer Marty Guerin leads Des Moines in scoring with 33 points, good for 8th overall in the league.

Thursday’s game is the 2nd of 4 “Margaritaville Nights” hosted by the Bucs this season. Fans will enjoy Tropi-COOL fun, great tunes, and drink specials at the Metro Ice Sports Arena, which will be transformed into an icy island for the night! Fans are encouraged to wear their beach gear, because several will be randomly chosen to compete on the ice to win a TV from KISS-FM and KPWB. The TV winner will come back on March 6th to compete for a trip to Key West, Florida (hotel and airfare included)! Other fans will be selected to head into battle for Bud Light Sumo Wrestling between periods. Game time on Thursday is 7:35 p.m. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. College students with a valid college ID get $2 off their ticket price for the Margaritaville Night game. Ticket prices are as follows: Arena level adults ($11), Arena level kids age 12 & under ($8), All Ice level seating ($13).

FRIDAY, JANUARY 17TH: BUCS @ TOPEKA (7:05)
On Friday, January 17th, the Bucs travel to Topeka, Kansas to take on the ScareCrows at Landon Arena. Topeka is currently in 4th place in the USHL’s Western Division with a 17-11-3 record. The ‘Crows are 10-2-1 at Landon Arena this year, and have played the Buccaneers 3 times so far during the 2002-03 season, besting Des Moines 2 out of the 3. Topeka is led offensively by Rob Rankin (26 points) and Luke Erickson (23 points). Game time at Topeka is 7:05 p.m.

SUNDAY, JANUARY 19TH: BUCS @ TRI-CITY (6:05)
On Sunday, January 19th, just over a week since hosting the Storm, and 2 weeks after traveling to Kearney, the Bucs head back to Nebraska to play the Tri-City Storm. The Storm, led by former Buccaneer Regg Simon, currently sit in last place in the USHL with an 11-18-4 record. Des Moines and Tri-City have faced off 2 times in 2 weeks, with the Bucs falling just short in each game (1 shootout loss, 1 overtime loss). Tri-City is led offensively by Scott Parse (22 points) and Mark Agnew and David Boguslawski (each with 21 points). Game time at Topeka is 6:05 p.m.

BUCCANEER NEWS & NOTES:
The Buccaneers have released forward Denny Reagan and added University of Minnesota forward Mike Erickson to the roster. Erickson will wear #23 for the Bucs; an updated roster is attached.
