BUCS TO BATTLE SIOUX CITY ON SATURDAY, JAN. 25TH
SPECIAL OLYMPICS PRESENTATION, JUMPIN’ JACK PERFORMANCE

The Des Moines Buccaneers (13-16-5) will spend next weekend in the friendly confines of the Metro Ice Sports Arena, hosting Sioux City on Saturday, January 25th (7:35 p.m.) and Team USA on Sunday, January 26th (1:05 p.m.).

Sioux City is currently ranked 3rd in the USHL’s Western Division with an 18-11-3 record. This will be the 4th time the Bucs have faced off against the Musketeers this season; Des Moines is 1-2 against Sioux City in their previous 3 meetings. Sioux City is led offensively by Grant Goeckner-Zoeller (30 points), Brandon Polich (29 points) and Justin Fletcher (27 points). Game time on the 25th is 7:35 p.m.

Saturday’s game will feature a presentation of Central Iowa’s Winter Special Olympians, and performances throughout the evening by Jumping Jack, a big, red fuzzy mascot that made his Des Moines performance debut last year, and is back by popular demand!

BUCS HOST TEAM USA FOR “GIRL’S NIGHT OUT”, SUPER BOWL SUNDAY

On Sunday, January 26th, the Buccaneers host Team USA for a special Super Bowl Sunday game. GAME TIME IS 1:05 P.M. to allow fans time to catch the “other” big game! Sunday’s game marks the 1st Annual “Girl’s Night Out” at the Metro Ice Sports Arena. Fans are encouraged to get friends and family together for an afternoon of fun and prizes!

Ladies can visit booths throughout the arena for FREE SAMPLES and to register-to-win fantastic prizes from: Wine Experience, Island Tan, Serenity Aveda Lifestyle Salon, Pampered Chef, Carithers and Koch Rejuvenation Spa, and Mary Kay Cosmetics. In addition, fans can visit one of two Star 102.5 booths for a free “Budweiser Hockey 101” book, AND to purchase a numbered mini-football for $1.00 (proceeds benefit the Food Bank of Iowa). During the first intermission, fans will toss their footballs at a special target at center ice. The fan whose football lands closest to the target will win a “Galena Girl’s Getaway”, which includes: 2 nights hotel at the Stoney Creek Inn, gift certificates to Fried Green Tomatoes Restaurant & the Grape Escape Wine Bar and more, courtesy of Joan Ellis’ Women’s Travel Club. Fans can catch the Super Bowl upstairs in the Overtime Lounge after Sunday’s game.

3 BUCCANEERS NAMED TO USHL PROSPECTS/ALL-STAR TEAMS

The United States Hockey League has announced the selections of its prospects and All Stars who will compete at the 2003 USHL Prospects/All-Star Game on February 4th, 2003 in Green Bay Wisconsin. Three Des Moines Buccaneers have been selected: Forward Marty Guerin (Lansing, MI), forward Jamie Hoffmann (New Ulm, MN) and defenseman Thomas Morrow (Afton, MN). All three players will be members of “Team World” who will take on “Team USHL”. Des Moines selected players will travel to Green Bay on February 3rd to begin preparations for the All Star Game.
