BUCS @ SIOUX CITY FRIDAY, HOST LINCOLN SATURDAY

The Des Moines Buccaneers travel to Sioux City to take on the defending Clark Cup Champion Musketeers this Friday, November 8th. The Musketeers are currently ranked 4th in the USHL’s West Division, with a 7-4 record. This will be the first time this season that Des Moines and Sioux City have met; Des Moines sits in 3rd place in the USHL’s East Division with a 4-5-1 record. The Musketeers’ leading scorers are Grant Goeckner-Zoeller and Brandon Polich, with 14 points each. Game time Friday at Sioux City is 7:05 p.m.; the game will be broadcast live on AM 1700 KBGG.

On Saturday night, November 9th, the Bucs host the rival Lincoln Stars at the Metro Ice Sports Arena, 7201 Hickman Rd. This is the first time the Bucs and the Stars have faced each other during the regular season; Des Moines beat the Stars 5-1 on September 21st at the Super 6 pre-season tournament in Cedar Rapids. Lincoln currently leads the USHL’sWest Division with a 9-4-1 record. Offensively, the Stars are led by Ryan Potulny (18 points, ranked 3rd in the USHL for scoring) and John Snowden (16 points, ranked 5th in the USHL for scoring).

Game time on Saturday is 7:35 p.m.; doors open to the public at 6:45 p.m. From 6:45 until the puck drops at 7:35, fans will enjoy the Bucs’ new pre-game drink special: $3 draws of beer at the arena concessions. Fans will love the Mite Youth Hockey game between periods, featuring the 8 & the Under Mite Maple Leafs vs. the Mite Blackhawks. The game will be officiated by Bucs’ parrot mascot, Winger. After the game, Buccaneer Captain Marty Guerin (#10) will be in Autograph Alley, located in the southwest corner of the arena, for autographs and photos. Fans can head upstairs to the Overtime Lounge, where they’ll receive $1 off their pitcher of beer for every goal scored by the Bucs that night (up to 4).

Ticket prices are as follows: Arena level adult: $11, Arena level children age 12 & under: $8, All ice level seating: $13. Group discounts, pre-game parties, and skybox rental also available.

BUCCANEER NOTES:

The Buccaneers lost 4-1 to the Omaha/River City Lancers at home on Friday night (Nov 1); the Bucs are now 1-1 against the Lancers this season…Saturday night (Nov 2) at Cedar Rapids, the Bucs picked up their only point of the weekend when they took the RoughRiders into a shootout before falling just short…final was 4-3 in favor of the RoughRiders…Forwards Jamie Hoffmann and Tomas Jasko currently lead the Bucs in scoring, with 7 points each…the Bucs are 3-3 at home, 1-2-1 on the road this season…the Bucs have played in 4 shootouts so far this year, winning both home-game shootouts and falling short in both road-game shootouts.
