BUCS BACK ON HOME ICE FOR DEC. 28, NEW YEAR’S EVE GAMES

On SATURDAY, DECEMBER 28TH, the 10-14-2 Des Moines Buccaneers host the Sioux Falls Stampede (14-7-5) at 7:35 p.m. Crowds at the Metro Ice Sports Arena will enjoy watching 2 randomly selected fans duke it out in Budweiser Sumo Wrestling, and all fans have the chance to win half of a cash jackpot in the “Chuck A Puck” contest during the 2nd intermission. (proceeds benefit the Des Moines Figure Skating Club).

On Sunday, December 29th, the Bucs will take the ice at Landon Arena in Topeka, Kansas, to battle the 13-9-3 ScareCrows, led by Head Coach Bliss Littler. Game time on the 29th is 4:05 p.m.; fans can listen to the game live on AM 1700 KBGG.

On TUESDAY, DECEMBER 31ST, Des Moines plays host to the Chicago Steel (11-12-3) for the annual New Year’s Eve Bash with the Bucs. The puck drops at 7:35, and between periods fans will be treated to a special demonstration by the Des Moines Figure Skating Club featuring 2 different routines by Club members. After the game, fans are encouraged to stick around and join the team on the ice to “Skate with the Bucs” until midnight. Fans may bring their own skates to the game, or rent arena skates for $1.00 (supplies are limited). Fans looking a less-chilly alternative can join the festivities upstairs in the Bucs’ Overtime Lounge, where they’ll be treated to party favors and drink specials. Admission to the post-game party is included in game ticket price.

Ticket prices are as follows: Arena level adults: $11. Arena level kids age 12 & under: $8. All ice level seating: $13. Group pricing and skybox rental also available.

GOALTENDER PAPCUN USHL “DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK”

Buccaneer goaltender Brian Papcun (Armada, MI) has been named USHL “Defensive Player of the Week” for his performance in the Bucs’ win against Sioux City on December 20th. Papcun was perfect in stopping eight shooters during the 3-2 shootout victory. He currently has a .903 save percentage.
