J.P. is from Brainerd, MN. He started playing hockey at the age of 4 and played for the Topeka Scarecrows during the 2002-03 season. His favorite NHL team is the Minnesota Wild and his favorite player is Sakic, of the Colorado Avalanche.

J.P.’s greatest hockey achievements are All State Conference Title and All Time Leading Scorer in previous hockey leagues.

Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

J.P. Platisha: Yea, I have an older brother who is 22 and a younger brother who is 15 and an older sister who is 23.

Kevin: How old were you when you started playing hockey?

J.P.: 3 years old and I was a goalie for my brother's mite team.

Kevin: Have you always been a forward?

J.P.: Yeah I played forward my whole life.

Kevin: Tell me about the past teams you've played for.

J.P.: The last year and a half I spent in Topeka (KS) of the USHL, before that I was playing Brainerd High School and just grew up playing Brainerd hockey all along.

Kevin: If I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is ?

J.P.: Buy a new car.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

J.P.: Minnesota Wild.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

J.P.: Joe Sakic.

Kevin: Finish this sentence: The fans would be surprised to know that I ...

J.P.: Like golfing.

Kevin: My first job was ...

J.P.: Working at a concession stand.

Kevin: Where did you go on your last vacation?

J.P.: Aspen, Colorado.

Kevin: In comparison to your hometown what do you like and dislike about Des Moines?

J.P.: It's a lot bigger and there is not very many lakes around here.

Kevin: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?

J.P.: My Dad.

Kevin: What do you like to do besides hockey?

J.P.: Golf, hunt, fish, be on a lake.

Kevin: If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be?

J.P.: George Bush.

Kevin: George Bush senior?

J.P.: The current President.

Kevin: What's your most embarrassing moment?

J.P.: There's been a lot of them, none of 'em stick out.

J.P.: Really tough.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey movie?

J.P.: Mighty Ducks, first one.

Kevin: What is your hockey career highlight?

J.P.: My Senior year, probably setting the career record for scoring at my high school and being all-state.

Kevin: If there is one thing you could change, what would it be?

J.P.: (If I would have) worked a little harder last year and gotten a scholarship.

Kevin: When you're not playing hockey, where are we most likely to find you (in season or off season)?

J.P.: On the lake or playing beach volleyball.

Kevin: Do you have a nickname?

J.P.: Elf.

Kevin: There's got to be a story behind that?

J.P.: I'm just magical around the guys. You know.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with ? Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez or Tara Reid?

J.P.: Definitely Tara Reid.

Kevin: Where would you like to go to college?

J.P.: Somewhere in Minnesota.

Kevin: What is your favorite board game?

J.P.: Monopoly.

Kevin: What web page do you check first when you go on-line?

J.P.: Hotmail.

Kevin: Do you have a pre-game ritual? If so, what is it?

J.P.: No. Not really, just like to get a nap in some time in the day.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

J.P.: Road Runner.

Kevin: What is your favorite non-hockey sport?

J.P.: Baseball.

Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?

J.P.: Probably Marian Gaborik. Because he's really good, got a great future. And he got a good number (#10)

Kevin: He's not playing now, he's holding out.

J.P.: Oh he's back. He's been back for a week and a half.

Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"?

J.P.: I have Mike Neilon be my GM. Cause I think he can really pull the guys in and tell them what to do.

Kevin: Who is faster, Speedy Gonzalez or the Road Runner?

J.P.: The road runner.

Kevin: What is your favorite Des Moines radio station?

J.P.: The Hawk.

Kevin: What do you miss most about home?

J.P.: This time of the year, ice fishing.

Kevin: Rank your opponent: Who is the toughest forward / defensemen / goaltender you have faced in the USHL?

J.P.: Forward probably (Joe) Pavelski from Waterloo. Who was CR's (Cedar Rapids)?

Mike Neilon: Last year?

J.P.: Yeah.

Mike Neilon: (Bobby) Goepfert

J.P.: No.

Kevin: No, Goepfert wasn't last year. He's was gone. This year it is (Joe) Fallon.

J.P.: Yeah, Fallon is the toughest goalie. Toughest defensemen is ... I haven't seen a lot stand up defensemen this year.

Kevin: I think you just put a mark on yourself now.

J.P.: Steve Wagner (Tri-City) is the only one I know of.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman?

J.P.: I don't like either of those guys. I probably Spiderman, if I could be anyone like that.

Kevin: Which one, new or old Buccaneer logo?

J.P.: New one.

Kevin: Burger King, McDonalds or Wendy's?

J.P.: Wendy's.

Kevin: Outside of Des Moines, who has the best logo in the league?

J.P.: Green Bay.

Kevin: Outside of Des Moines, who has the best arena in the league?

J.P.: Green Bay.

Kevin: What "barn(s)" are you most intimated to play in, in the USHL?

J.P.: Waterloo.

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

J.P.: Work hard now and it will get you places faster.
