WATERLOO, IA - A seven-goal surge in the second period carried the Des Moines Buccaneers to a 9-5 victory over Waterloo in USHL action Wednesday night.
Myles Hart led the middle-period rally with two goals while Tom Schlief, Scott Lauder, Jeff Straddle, Bill Ries and Greg LaDuceur each picked up one. The Bucs scored twice in the first period on goals by Rick Swarbrick and Scott Rupp.
Des Moines goalie Frank Cataldo made 39 saves.
The teams meet again tonight at the Des Moines Ice Arena. The Bucs are in fifth place in the USHL standings with 19 points while Waterloo is last with 12.
