Matt comes to Des Moines this year from Orange, Connecticut. He played last year for Avon Old Farms Prep, and tallied 35 goals and 18 assists. The NHL player that Matt admires most is Pavel Bure (New York) because of his consistent ability to score goals. The Rangers are his favorite team. |
Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?
Matt Burto: One brother and two sisters. All younger.
Kevin: How old where you when you started playing hockey?
Matt: I was three when I started skating and four when I started playing.
Kevin: Why did you start?
Matt: My Grandfather took me to a game and I liked it.
Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs?
Matt: Coach Ferguson came out to watch me play. And I was looking for more games to play. Because at prep school, you only play 26 games season. I didn't think that was enough, I didn't think.
Kevin: Have you always been a forward?
Matt: Yes, I have.

Matt: All the teams I've played for, all been successful. All won championships. All have been fun to play for.

Matt: My favorite TV show would probably be The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire.
Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?
Matt: Pavel Bure. You need someone to score goals.

Matt: Pavel Bure, Peter Forsberg, Mario Lemieux. Defense, probably Ray Borque and Rob Blake. In goal, Patrick Roy.
