Player Biography

Jamie is a native of New Ulm, Minnesota, and tallied 25 goals and 32 assists for New Ulm High School last season. He has received All Conference honors 3 of his 4 high school years, and was named All State for the last 2 years. Jason Arnott (Dallas) is his favorite NHL player because he is “hardworking and unselfish”. Off the ice, Jamie’s high school baseball team was last year’s Minnesota State High School Champs, and he was named 3A Player of the Year.

Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

Jamie Hoffmann: Yeah, I have a younger sister, she is 13 - 14 actually.

Kevin: How old where you when you started playing hockey?

Jamie: About five.

Kevin: Why did you start?

Jamie: Actually, one of my Dad's buddies got me into it. I was a wrestler, my dad was a wrestler, so I wrestled. And then my Dad's buddy said "try hockey out". So I tried it out and I liked it better then wrestling.

Kevin: Have you always been a forward?

Jamie: Yeah.

Kevin: If I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is ...

Jamie: Buy a sweet house.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

Jamie: The Wild for pro.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

Jamie: Jason Arnott probably.

Kevin: Where would you like to go to college?

Jamie: Right now I am considering Mankato or Colorado College. I think Colorado College would probably be it.

Kevin: Best advice you've ever received (doesn't have to be hockey-related):

Jamie: Try to live every day like it is your last.

Jamie: I'm generally kinda quiet.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory?

Jamie: Probably I have to say mainly youth hockey, when we would go play in tournaments and stay in a hotels. All the players would screw around at night and stuff. That was probably the most fun.

Jamie: I did maintenance and lawn mowing at a trailer park.

Kevin: What would you consider your dream car?

Jamie: Probably say a brand new Chevy pickup, with an extended cab.

Kevin: What can't you imagine living without?

Jamie: Music, probably.

Kevin: What's your most embarrassing moment?

Jamie: I don't really have one. I can't think of one.

Jamie: Probably have to say, I can't think of the shortstop's name from Boston right now ... Nomar Garciaparra

Jamie: Wayne Gretzky.

Kevin: What is your favorite food?

Jamie: Probably saukraut and dumplings.

Kevin: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?

Jamie: I have to say my family in general.

Kevin: What is your favorite TV show/book?

Jamie: TV show, probably have to be Friends.

Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?

Jamie: Marian Gaborik, I'm glad the Wild started out with him. He's young and can only get better, basically.

Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"?

Jamie: Probably, (Marian) Gaborik, Jason Arnott, Wayne Gretzky. Defensemen, probably Rob Blake and Ray Borque.

Kevin: Anybody in net?

Jamie: Yeah, I don't like (Patrick) Roy. Probably, I don't know. Probably Jocelyn Thibault.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with … Brittany Spears, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Tara Reid?

Jamie: Ha, Tara Reid, hands down.

Kevin: What is your favorite restaurant?

Jamie: Probably, Fridays.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

Jamie: The Road Runner.

Jamie: I don't really know. Maybe a little bigger.

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

Jamie: I have to say stick with it. Cause I kinda came from a not a very big program, there were not many expectations. Just stick with it and work hard.
