Tomas comes to us from his hometown of Bratislava, Slovakia, where he played last year for the Bratislava Junior team. He scored 32 goals and 28 assists for Bratislava last season in 39 games. He most admires NHL player Peter Forsberg for his strength, and his favorite NHL team is Vancouver.

In February Jasko earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for his efforts against the Tri-City Storm on Friday. The first-year forward notched a hat trick and an assist in the contest.

Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

Tomas Jasko: I have a sister.

Kevin: Older or younger?

Tomas: Younger, three years.

Kevin: How old where you when you started playing hockey?

Tomas: Seven.

Kevin: Why did you start?

Tomas: Cause my Father played hockey.

Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs?

Tomas: Cause I heard good things about Des Moines, and about Coach (Ferguson). So that's why.

Kevin: Have you always been a forward?

Tomas: Yeah.

Kevin: If I won the lottery, the first thing I'd do is ...

Tomas: How much would I win?

Kevin: Whatever.

Tomas: If it is so much that I don't need so much money, I think I will give some to somebody who needs it. I would leave something for me for my life, I don't know, maybe 400 million? 35 million I would give to somebody or somewhere that needs it.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

Tomas: College, no. Pro, I think the Canucks are good, Vancouver Canucks.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

Tomas
: Pavel Bure, he was really good, but he is not any more. But I like Forsberg too.

Kevin: Do you have a nickname?

Tomas: Yeah, players back in Slovakia use to call me "Yashin".

Kevin: Tell me about some of your goals for the future.

Tomas: I don't know what I'll do after this year. We'll have to see how the season goes.

Kevin: Finish this sentence: The fans would be surprised to know that I ...

Tomas: (long pause)

Kevin: Any hidden talents?

Tomas: I am just thinking about that, nothing comes to mind.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory?

Tomas: I think there is three of them. First one was two years ago, my first game for pros for Hockey Slovakia. I scored two goals.

Second one, World Championship for Juniors, Under 18 in Finland. And last year, World Championship Under 20.

Kevin: My first job was ...

Tomas: I don't have a job.

Kevin: Best decision I ever made?

Tomas: First, to start play hockey. Second one, that I stayed at home (Slovakia) two years ago. And third one, that I am here, in Des Moines.

Kevin: What are your hobbies?

Tomas: Computer. I like watching sports and doing sports.

Kevin: What would you consider your dream car?

Tomas: I like smaller one, but fast.

Kevin: In comparison to your hometown what do you like and dislike about Des Moines?

Tomas: That is a tough question, because all my time I spent here at the rink and at home and I don't go outside.

Kevin: What do you like to do besides hockey?

Tomas: Soccer. Sometimes I like a good book.

Kevin: What's your most embarrassing moment?

Tomas: What's embarrassing? Bad?

Kevin: Something like, you tripped and fell down and everybody saw you do it and that laughed at you.

Tomas: Oh, I know. When I was younger, before the game, they just started talking about the hockey players as they come skate onto the ice. Players were on the blue line. My name comes, I started skating, I stopped and I fell down and all the players come down with me.

Kevin: Who is your favorite non-hockey athlete?

Tomas: I think, Lance Armstrong.

Kevin: What is your favorite TV show/book?

Tomas: I think the Friends are really good. And books, I like books from Egypt.

Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?

Tomas: I would pick Forsberg.

Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"?

Tomas: I think Hasek would be in net. Lidstrom and Mattias Ohlund from the Vancouver Canucks. Forsberg, Jagr and Naslund.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with … Brittany Spears, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Tara Reid?

Tomas: I don't know the last one. I think Cameron Diaz. Simply because, she not only good-looking, but I think she's smart.

Kevin: What is something you've always wanted to do, but haven't yet?

Tomas: Fly into space.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

Tomas: Bugs Bunny.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman?

Tomas: Superman.

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

Tomas: The coach wants all the time to get you to be a better player. But it doesn't seem like it every time. Maybe the coach is mad to you, and you think, he doesn't like me. But all he wants is for you to be a better player then you are (now). His goal is to get you to a better level then you already are.
