Player Biography

Jonathan is a native of Moorhead, Minnesota who spent the last two hockey seasons in Bismarck, North Dakota with the Bobcats of the AWHL. Last year, he scored 20 goals and 15 assists for Bismarck in 40 games. He was also named team captain and MVP for the Bobcats. His favorite NHL team is the Minnesota Wild.

Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters?

Jon Rudnick: Yeah, I have three brothers. Two older, one younger. Pretty much the typical situation, everybody beating up on everybody.

Kevin: How old where you when you started playing hockey?

Jon: I think I was four.

Kevin: Why did you start?

Jon: Because all my brothers played, my dad played hockey. It just seemed natural. Seemed fun.

Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs?

Jon: it seemed like the right place to advance my career.

Kevin: Have you always been a forward?

Jon: Yep.

Kevin: Tell me about the past teams you've played for.

Jon: Last year, I played with the Bismarck Bobcats in the AWHL. It was a lot of fun. The year before that I was with the Bobcats, again. Then, I was in High School before that.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team?

Jon: I have go with the Wild for my favorite pro team. Then for college, I really don't have a favorite. Just like to watch 'em all.

Kevin: What about a favorite player?

Jon: I really don't have a favorite player.

Kevin: What is your favorite saying?

Jon: We will do today what others won't, tomorrow what others can't.

Kevin: Where would you like to go to college?

Jon: Probably U of M, that's a good school.

Kevin: What are some things you want to do in your life besides hockey?

Jon: Become a physical trainer. Become a physical therapist somewhere for rehab and stuff like that.

Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory?

Jon: Probably getting game-winner, when I was a Pee-Wee in our League Championship.

Kevin: My first job was ...

Jon: At 14, I was a bus boy at a restaurant/country club.

Kevin: What would you being doing now if you weren't playing hockey?

Jon: Playing street hockey.

Kevin: What are your hobbies?

Jon: I like fishing, golf. That's pretty much all I do all summer. The rest is hockey.

Kevin: What would you consider your dream car?

Jon: I have had a lot of thought on this, it wouldn't be a car, it would definitely be a truck. Probably a Chevy truck, a nice one.

Kevin: When did you first hear about the Bucs?

Jon: When I started Juniors.

Kevin: Did you have any other choices?

Jon: Yeah, there was a couple other choices, but seemed like a good place to go.

Kevin: What can't you imagine living without?

Jon: Family.

Kevin: Do you have a favorite movie?

Jon: No, there is too many good ones. Dumb and Dumber, I'd have to say, it was funny.

Kevin: What's your most embarrassing moment?

Jon: When I got a penalty one game, I did a flip into the box. I didn't open the door, and I flipped right over.

Kevin: Who is your favorite non-hockey athlete?

Jon: I don't really have one.

Kevin: If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be?

Jon: I don't know, there is too many choices. Maybe the President, that would be kinda cool.

Kevin: When you're not playing hockey, where are we most likely to find you (in season or off season)?

Jon: At the gym or at the lake, going fishing.

Kevin: Do you have a specific pre-game meal? If so, what is it?

Jon: Just some pasta with some chicken.

Kevin: Who is your favorite band?

Jon: I don't have one, I like a lot of music.

Kevin: What is your favorite TV show/book?

Jon: Simpsons.

Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why?

Jon: Gretzky.

Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"?

Jon: Lemieux, Gretzky, Fedorov, that would be a pretty good line. Defense: Borque and Chelios. Patrick Roy, I have to say he is the best goalie.

Kevin: What are your superstitions?

Jon: I get dressed the same way. If I find a penny heads up, I pick it up. Tails down, I don't. That's about it.

Kevin: If you were stranded on a desert island, whom would you want to be stranded with … Brittany Spears, Cameron Diaz, Sarah Michelle Gellar or Tara Reid?

Jon: Halle Berry ... Tara Reid.

Kevin: What is your favorite restaurant?

Jon: I don't know, I like so many different foods, I don't know what to pick.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Bugs Bunny or Road Runner?

Jon: Road Runner, he has more fun.

Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman?

Jon: Seems like Batman gets more of the ladies. I think Batman.

Kevin: If I could change one thing about me, it would be ...

Jon: Wish I was faster on the ice.

Kevin: Any advice for younger hockey players?

Jon: Keep working at it. Don't give up, keep working.
