Papcun Nets Player of the Week Honors Des Moines Buccaneers goalie Brian Papcun was named the Let’s Play Hockey/USHL Defensive Player of the Week for his play against the River City Lancers in the Bucs’ season opening victory Saturday night. Papcun faced forty-two shots in the game and stopped forty-one of them, for a .976 save percentage. The only goal he allowed was on a River City power play in the first period of Des Moines’ 7-1 victory. Forward Marty Mjelleli was also honored by Let’s Play Hockey magazine and the USHL, picking up an honorable mention for the Offensive Player of the Week award. Mjelleli scored two of Des Moines’ seven goals in the win over River City. The Buccaneers are back in action this weekend with games at Sioux Falls on Friday and at Waterloo on Saturday. The Bucs return home on Friday, October 10th with a 7:35 game against the Green Bay Gamblers. The game kicks off Buctoberfest, which will start with a pre-game tailgate party that from 5-6:30pm that night.
