Des Moines Buccaneers begin Teddy Bear distribution The Des Moines Buccaneers have begun distributing the 800 teddy bears that the team collected in its third annual “Teddy Bear Toss”, which was held on November 28th. Fans were encouraged to bring stuffed animals to the Bucs’ game against Waterloo, and throw them onto the ice after the team scored its first goal. The Buccaneers players are delivering the bears to local children, in hopes of brightening the holiday season for Des Moines area kids. Deliveries will begin Wednesday, December 17th, at 5pm at Mercy Hospital, located at 1111 6th Ave and at the Children and Family Urban Ministries, located at the corner of 8th and College. The players will continue delivering the toys throughout the week, and will make stops at the Oak Ridge Neighborhood and Neighborhood Services, located at 1236 Oakridge Dr. on Thursday, December 18th at 5:30 pm and at the Boys and Girls Club, 1740 East Garfield, on Friday the 19that 7:00 pm.
