Bucs reload at goaltender The Buccaneers, currently ranked eleventh in goals allowed in the twelve-team United States Hockey League, have added two new goalies for the second half of the season. Pat Watson, from Waltham, MA and Dwight LaBrosse, from McMurray, PA have both been added to the Bucs roster and will be in uniform for tonight’s game versus the River City Lancers. Watson’s first game with Des Moines was last Sunday, December 28th against the USHL East Division leading Cedar Rapids RoughRiders. The Buc’s new netminder held the ‘Riders scoreless for the first fifty-eight minutes of the game and picked up his first USHL victory, 4-1. He stopped thirty-six of Cedar Rapids’ thirty-seven shots. Watson had been playing for the Valley Junior Warriors of the Eastern Junior Hockey League, and has committed to Merrimack College, where he will begin playing in 2005. He will get his second start in tonight’s game. Dwight LaBrosse will don a Buccaneers jersey for the first time against the Lancers tonight. The 6’0”, 200lb. goalie was a ninth round pick of the National Hockey League’s Pittsburgh Penguins in 2002. Last season, LaBrosse was a member of the Kingston Frontenacs of the Ontario Hockey League, and was a part of the 2002 U.S. World Junior Championship team and the Under-18 U.S. National team in 2000-01. Goalies Brian Papcun and Dan Tormey, as well as forward Martin Krayzel have been removed from the Buccaneers’ roster to make room for the new goaltenders.
