The Des Moines Buccaneers, who helped Sioux City regain first place in the USHL last Friday by falling to the Musketeers, 6-4, are taking their only weekend of the season off.
Coach Ivan Prediger gave the Bucs a week off following a loss the Czech National Team Saturday night. Most of the players have returned to their homes for Christmas.
Des Moines, in fifth place, will swing back into action next week with a pair of games against sixth-place Waterloo. The Bucs travel to Waterloo Wednesday night before closing out 1981 with a New Year's Eve contest against the Black Hawks at the Des Moines Ice Arena.
A top-heavy home slate in 1982 begins with Des Moines playing host to Bloomington, Minn., on January 2. January's schedule has the Bucs playing nine games at home and only four on the road.
