National ChampionshipThe Buccaneers fell short of the National Championship finals by one game, losing to Waterloo in overtime. The Bucs advanced to the finals by winning the best of seven series against arch-rival Omaha, 4-1. USHL AwardsThe United States Hockey League awarded defenseman Jeff Petry and forward Rich Purslow post-season honors for their play during the 2006-07 season. Petry, a second round draft choice of the Edmonton Oilers a year ago was named ProGuard USHL Defenseman of the Year and was selected to the First-Team All-USHL team. Purslow won the USHL scoring title this season with 82 points and became the first Des Moines Buccaneer to achieve this honor since Peter Sejna in the 1999-00 season. Purslow was named to the Second-Team All-USHL Team. College ScholarshipsIn addition to the awards listed above, 17 Buccaneers received college scholarships this season.
