Player Interview

2/4/98

Steve: Vincent, where were you born and where do you call home?

Vincent: I was born in Paris on April 29, 1978. I call Paris, France home.

Steve: What was it like growing up in Paris?

Vincent: It was very fun. It is a pretty nice city.

Steve: A lot of things to do?

Vincent: Yeah.

Steve: Tell me about your family.

Vincent: I have my two parents, both doctors. I have one big brother who is 21, one little sister who is 15 now, and one little brother who is 10.

Steve: Has your family been able to see you play as a Buccaneer?

Vincent: Maybe, I do not know. Maybe my family will come for the play-offs.

Steve: How did you start playing hockey?

Vincent: I was looking for a sport where I could play, I do not know exactly how I chose hockey. So hockey was a very good start.

Steve: When did you know or decide you wanted to pursue hockey full time?

Vincent: When I came into high school, I decided to go into a special school to study and play hockey. So I knew when I was 15.

Steve: There is a special school in a different city?

Vincent: Yeah, a special school. You finish school all day and you go play hockey at the end every day.

Steve: Have you always played defense?

Vincent: Yeah, I have always played defense.

Steve: What do you like about playing defense?

Vincent: What do I like? When I was first playing it was cool because when you play defense you can take a lot of speed and play defense and some offense, do some stuff like that. But I just like playing defense. You hit some guys and it is fun.

Steve: What other teams have you played for besides the Bucs?

Vincent: Reims, which is France.

Steve: How did you come to play for the Buccaneers?

Vincent: I am looking for a school scholarship. I think the USHL is a good league to play in.

Steve: So you want to get a college scholarship?

Vincent: Yeah.

Steve: How did you find out about the USHL?

Vincent: Yale’s coach told me to try Des Moines out, so I came to the camps in June; one in Des Moines and one in the Twin Cities. I chose Des Moines.

Steve: What are some of the things you like about playing for the Buccaneers?

Vincent: It is pretty fun with all of the fans, it makes it exciting to play.

Steve: What are some of the differences between playing a road game and home game?

Vincent: At a home game you can focus on the game and relax, take a good nap in your bed, eat whatever you want. On a road game, you focus on your game but your mind is into other things.

Steve: Are there certain teams you would rather play or not play, USHL teams?

Vincent: No, all of the teams are good. There are some teams who hate Des Moines and they are fun to play, but all of the teams are good to play.

Steve: Do you have a favorite college or pro team?

Vincent: Colorado Avalanche!

Steve: What are you future hockey plans?

Vincent: I would like to get a scholarship. If I don’t get a scholarship, I think I will come back another year and play for the Bucs.

Steve: What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you in hockey?

Vincent: In my senior year I had a penalty shot and I completely missed the puck when I went to shoot. It was pretty embarrassing.

Steve: What is your favorite food, dessert, movie, music, car?

Vincent: What is my favorite food? French food.

Steve: Okay, what is French food?

Vincent: You have five different things to eat during your meal, like soup, bread, cheese and always a dessert.

Steve: What is your favorite dessert?

Vincent: I do not know.

Steve: Favorite music or band?

Vincent: Reggae, which is Jamaican.

Steve: Do you have a favorite movie or a favorite car?

Vincent: No, I do not have any favorites.

Steve: Do people consider you shy or out going?

Vincent: Out going, I think.

Steve: What type of girl do you like? Tall, short, hair color?

Vincent: I do not know. I don't understand the question.

Steve: Do you like blondes, blue eyes, etc... ?

Vincent: I guess I would like blondes, green eyes, out going, and artistic girls.

Steve: Do you have any other hobbies or interests that you like?

Vincent: Not really, I do not think so.

Steve: The fans would be surprised to know that I . . .

Vincent: I used to drink in France. I hope the coach does not get mad that I say this.

Steve: In France it is okay, right?

Vincent: Yeah, wine and beer is OK.
