Player Biography
Pete joins us from Hibbing, Minnesota, where he played for Hibbing High School, scoring 12 goals and 24 assists in 25 games. He was All Conference defenseman for the 95/96 and 96/97 seasons. In addition to his talent in hockey, Pete notes that he can play ping-pong both left and right handed.

Steve: The person(s) I most admire are . . .
Pete: My sister Emmy. She is 16 and I guess that is the person I most admire.
Steve: How come?
Pete: She was born with spina bifida and she has been in a wheelchair all her life, and she is just a pretty special person to me.
Steve: Do you have a nickname?
Pete: Sap.
Steve: If I won a million dollars, I would . . .
Pete: I would start a fishing resort or camp somewhere up in Canada on a lake. Have my own little outfit, fly in by plane.
Steve: I would be the first to come there, I think. People are surprised when I tell them . . .
Pete: People are surprised when I tell them, I don't know. I'm not a very surprising guy , I don't think.
Steve: Okay. My favorite saying is . . .
Pete: These aren't the questions you asked the other guys!
Steve: No, these are new.
Pete: Holly cow! My favorite saying? Are you kidding me?
Steve: How about this one: the best thing about being a Buc hockey player is . . .
Pete: Just being able to play in front of all the fans in Des Moines. It is a pretty awesome place to play all your home games.
Steve: The best thing about the game of hockey is . . .
Pete: The speed and the skill level that it takes to play. It is just really exciting.
Steve: The sport I would like to try but never have is . . .
Pete: Curling.
Steve: Do you have a favorite NHL team?
Pete: No.
Steve: So you wouldn't have a favorite NHL player?
Pete: Yeah.
Steve: Who?.
Pete: Brian Leach.
Steve: Brian Leach. Why?
Pete: Just cause he is a small, crafty defense man who likes to get involved in the offense.
Steve: My goal in life is to . . .
Pete: Be successful at whatever I choose to be.
Steve: If I were head coach, I would . . .
Pete: Head coach of the Bucs or head coach of anything?
Steve: Any team.
Pete: If I was the head coach I would, I don't know. That is kind of a tough question. It is not really specific.
Steve: Nope, it is wide open.
Pete: I would try to guide the guys to the championship.
Steve: My game day superstition is . . .
Pete: Don't have any superstitions.
Steve: My favorite toy as a child was . . .
Pete: I wasn't much into toys. Probably my hockey stick.
Steve: My favorite color . . .
Pete: Blue.
Steve: What is your favorite number and why?
Pete: I really don't have a favorite number. I guess my favorite number would be 25, that is my hockey number.
Steve: Okay. Have you always been #25?
Pete: No.
Steve: Have you played many different numbers?
Pete: 6 and 25, those are the only two.
Steve: My greatest athletic moment . . .
Pete: Scoring a goal in the section semi-finals last year against Greenway High School. It was the game tieing goal with a minute left.
Steve: Okay, this is a finals before what?
Pete: Section semi-finals in the Minnesota High School playoffs.
Steve: What team were you on?
Pete: Hibbing.
Steve: Hibbing, and who did you play?
Pete: Greenway.
Steve: Who did you go on to play in the finals?
Pete: Duluth East, and we lost, too.
Steve: Your most embarrassing moment . . .
Pete: I really can't think of one.
Steve: Let's go back to the one about your greatest athletic moment. You scored the tieing goal. How did that happen? Was it a slapshot?
Pete: Yeah, it was a slapshot. Actually, I took a shot and it was blocked. It came right back to me and I walked down the slot and took a slapshot and scored. It sent the game into overtime.
Steve: The fans went crazy?
Pete: Uh huh.
Steve: Where do you hope to be in 20 years?
Pete: Back in Northern Minnesota fishing, making money somehow.
Steve: My hobbies include . . .
Pete: Hunting, fishing, water skiing and hanging out at the lake cabin.
Steve: My teammates think I am . . .
Pete: I think maybe quiet.
Steve: My favorite musical group is . . .
Pete: I would have to say Live.
Steve: My favorite movie is . . .
Pete: "A Few Good Men."
Steve: I can't imagine living without . . .
Pete: I can't imagine living without my family, I guess.
Steve: My teammates don't know that . . .
Pete: I don't think there is anything they really don't know about me that is too important.
Steve: My advice to youngsters is . . .
Pete: Just work hard at whatever you are doing and try your best and have fun with it. Don't do drugs.
