Chris Kane - Number 14 Position: Defense Chris is a long way from home this season; he comes to Des Moines from Irvine, CA. Chris started playing hockey when he was 9 and the motto he lives by on the ice is, brains without competitive hearts are rudderless. His favorite NHL player is Bobby Orr who played for Colorado Avalanche and Chris’s favorite team is the Boston Bruins. Interview Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters? Chris Kane: Yep. I got a brother. Kevin: Older, younger? Chris: He's younger. He's 13 (years old). Kevin: How old were you when you started playing hockey? Chris: I was about 8 (years old). Kevin: Why did you decide to play for the Bucs? Chris: I felt was the best development to bring me to the next level. Kevin: Have you always been a defensemen? Chris: No, I've played forward. Kevin: How long have you played defense? Chris: I'd say over the past two years. Kevin: Tell me about the past teams you've played for. Chris: I played High School in Mount St. Charles (Rhode Island) and I played in California for the South Coast Sabres. Kevin: Do you have a favorite pro or college team? Chris: I'd have to say Boston Bruins for NHL. Kevin: What about a favorite player? Chris: Bobby Orr. Kevin: Best advice you've ever received (doesn't have to be hockey-related): Chris: I always work your hardest, because there is someone out there working harder. Kevin: What is your favorite hockey memory? Chris: I have to say, winning the State Championship with Mount St. Charles. Kevin: What would you being doing now if you weren't playing hockey? Chris: Probably would be at the beach. Kevin: Where did you go on your last vacation? Chris: Santa Barbara (California). Kevin: In comparison to your hometown what do you like and dislike about Des Moines? Chris: I'd say, like how the people are very friendly and helpful in Des Moines. Dislike ... I'm not too crazy about the roads. I think they're kinda small. Kevin: What do you like to do besides hockey? Chris: Snow board, go to the beach, body surf, you name it. Kevin: Best decision I ever made? Chris: Come play for the Bucs. Kevin: Do you have a favorite movie? Chris: Rudy. Kevin: If you could have lunch with one person, past or present, who would it be? Chris: None of them, I would never give them the satisfaction. Kevin: Where would you like to go to college? Chris: Somewhere in the New England area or Colorado. Kevin: If you started your own NHL franchise, and you could pick any player, who would you start with and why? Chris: Bobby Orr, because he could play both ends of the ice to perfection and Travis Anderson. Kevin: Who would you have on your hockey "Dream Team"? Chris: Oakland Raiders. Kevin: Who would you rather be, Superman or Batman? Chris: Batman. Kevin: If you could change one aspect of your game, what would it be? Chris: To be more offensive.
