Dan Tormey - Number 1 Position: Goaltender Dan comes to the Des Moines Bucs this year after playing for the River City Lancers. Dan is a native of Syracuse, NY where he started playing hockey at the age of 5. Dan’s favorite NHL player is J.S. December 2003: Dan Tormey was named the Let's Play Hockey/USHL Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Saturday against the St. Louis Heartland Eagles. Tormey, from Syracuse, NY, recorded the first shutout of the season for the Buccaneers, stopping twenty-four shots on his way to defeating the Heartland Eagles 3-0. The shutout raised Tormey's save percentage to .907 and lowered his goal against average to 3.43. Dan Tormey was traded in December, 2003. Interview Kevin Kasel: Tell me about your family life, do you have any brothers or sisters? Dan Tormey: I have one sister who is a senior at UMass-Amherst. She is 21, her name is Darcy, and my Mom and Dad. Kevin: How old were you when you started playing hockey? Dan: I was 5 years old. Kevin: Why did you start? Dan: Because of my neighbor - I always followed after him, he was a few years older then me. He always played hockey or lacrosse. So I did the same. Kevin: Have you always been a goaltender?
